Pakistan halts live streaming of IPL 2025 matches

LAHORE: In a reciprocal move, Tapmad, the official streaming partner of Indian Premier League (IPL), has stopped telecasting IPL matches in pkaistan, according to media reports.

This situation arises after India blamed Pakistan for the Pahalgam attack, which resulted in 26 deaths of tourists in IIJOK.

Following that Indian government banned the live streaming of Pakistan Super League matches in India on TVs and mobile Apps, including Sony Sports Network, Fancode, and Cricbuzz.

However, the situation shifted swiftly. Tapmad declared on Saturday that it will discontinue broadcasting IPL matches in Pakistan, citing increased public outrage and requests for a reciprocal response. This move occurred only a day after Indian broadcasters backed out of PSL coverage, indicating a clear tit-for-tat strategy.

Tapmad’s decision is interpreted as a symbolic move, reflecting the larger tendency of both nations to reduce cultural and sports interactions in the aftermath of the Pahalgam incident.
